Italianni’s has a new promo. Buy one big lunch and get the next one free (<<–click if you want to learn more). The deal sounds good, but we just had to find out if the actual meals would not disappoint.
Beforehand, we already knew what we wanted – The roasted Ribeye (Manzo di Arrosto–Php 350+) and Braised Ribs ( Costina Brasata–Php 350+). Unfortunately the ribs were not available, so we settled for fish and chicken skewer (Spiedo del Pollo – Php 295).
When the ribeye arrived, I first noticed the size. It is either the plate laid down on the table was bigger that the ones used in the advertisement photo shoot or the meat is not really as big as advertised – take your pick. Some parts of the steak were soft enough, but some parts needed a few more bites. What we really liked was the peppery taste. It would have been nice if we ordered extra rice.
The pesto marinated chicken and spice rubbed dory fish skewers were quite tasty. The fish was cooked just right, but the chicken was too dry.
All Big lunch meals are served with aglio e olio pasta and some grilled vegetables. The simple pasta was portrayed as the supporting cast, but it turned out to be the best actor. I just wished the serving size was a bit bigger. The grilled vegetables were overcooked and turned out to be too mushy.
So, did we get a good deal? Honestly, I don’t know. I don’t know because it was a decent meal for two for just Php 350++, but if we had to pay the advertised rates (sans the free 2nd plate promo), then I would say we should have dined somewhere else.
