Our last stop, before we went home was AC Rumpa. The first thing that popped into my mind upon hearing the name was actually Willy Wonka’s Oompa-Loompas! Seriously, don’t expect midgets with funny hairdos working here. AC Rumpa actually stands for Angeles City Retired US Military Personnel Association.
If you are planning to eat here for lunch, I suggest you go before 12 noon. The place is quite popular not only to people visiting the area, but to locals as well. Parking will not be a problem since they have a vacant lot right across the street. This is a no frills place. Don’t expect anything fancy nor any freebie while waiting (service is quite fast anyway).
We decided to order two barbequed spare ribs. The first one with mashed potato and the second one with crispy potato wedges. Both side dishes were good, but the mashed potato was better. The spare ribs were really delicious! They were soft, flavorful and most of all cheap. A great meal for just Php 150.
To help push down our chow, we also had iced tea. The taste is not really life changing, but the glasses they are using are interesting. I was even tempted to ask if I could buy one.
Serving sizes are quite big at this place. I spied one omelet which could easily feed a company of marines =). Maybe the retired folks running the place were from Texas.
Well, that ends our short Pampanga Food Trip. Pampanga has more to offer and we haven’t even licked the tip of the Halo-Halo (a popular Filipino dessert composed of gazillions of ingredients with shaved iced). Surely, we will come back with Optimus Pride.
